Description

Logotherapy is a form of psychotherapy grounded in the theory of existential motivation — the person's recognition of the meaning of their life. The will to meaning, as the driver of behavior, offers a comprehensive approach to the theory of human conduct.

This psychotherapy is rooted in the spiritual dimension of the person, through which the psychotherapist can access freedom of choice, responsibility, attitude, and awareness of uniqueness as fundamental elements in treating existential emptiness (noogenic neurosis).

Dereflection, paradoxical intention, attitude modification, self-distancing, and self-transcendence are among the effective tools Logotherapy offers the psychotherapist in clinical practice. The principles developed by Dr. Viktor Emil Frankl apply across every humanistic discipline — hence its name, the Third Viennese School of Psychotherapy.

Objectives

  • Equip professionals with a psychotherapy technique that fosters personal freedom and responsibility, at a time when reductionist scientism threatens to reduce the person to the category of object.
  • Provide the most effective existential tools to conduct a psychotherapeutic process and deepen the meaning of human existence in its personal, family, educational, social, and spiritual dimensions.
  • Prepare professionals capable of fostering a meaningful life through a deep exploration of the values, ideals, goals, and ultimate ends that define the human being.
